textwall.cc : the internet’s biggest textwall – dvd3000

At the moment, this is technically the first webpage about textwall on the internet, but I’ll leave some more in depth stuff up to the historians like 999qi. This is just my experience and view of Textwall.

I’ve been poking around on multiuser sketchpad for a while, and was wondering if there was anything else like it, until from a Neocities site, I discovered TextWall, the biggest multiplayer notepad on the internet, and I wasn’t quite prepared for what this would turn into.

I found textwall on June 28, 2022, and made the account “clifford”, cuz clifford the big red dog! When you make an account, you get your own pocket world that anyone can visit, so go leave something there! (Due to an account glitch, I later made the account cliffy)

Over at spawn, there were a couple people setting up some boxes. You can work with any ASCII or unicode characters, including block characters, which are used heavily in cool buildings.

Of course, building in textwall is complete anarchy. There is no cooldown for typing or pasting, so things can get crazy fast. The first thing I saw built ended up being the first version of the TextWall Hotel, which was a hotel made of block characters that you could visit and get your own room to show off cool stuff and text.

Things on TextWall, or at least on the main page, happen FAST. Just like any site where kids can do whatever they want, some drama started forming up when some terrorist user known as CountyNumber threatened to “blow up” the hotel if he couldn’t keep his 4x-larger-than-normal room, so the hotel was promptly blown up, and repaired, until an anonymous user pasted block letters over the hotel, which was erased, then the hotel was filled in with block characters, then the entire spawn area was filled with block characters, Max4 started carving a bunker out of the blocks, then the bunker was erased, the entire spawn area was erased, and I built a wall around the area, and founded “New Textwall”. Yeap. All that happened in 11 hours. And that also happened to be the first textwall video!

That was just my first day, in the following days, I learned more about Textwall, started to make some friends with some of the well-known textwall users like ViSzKe and lime.another, and unintentionally get involved in the textwall drama.

Many users on Textwall are young kids, which isn’t surprising seeing what kind of builds… and arguments they get into.. most of the active textwall users came from a googology fandom and are obsessed with numbers and stuff. I know some of you reading this are already cringing and wondering why I go on a text editor with 10 year olds, but the site’s pretty cool, alright.

Well, with anything cool, there’s always gonna be someone around to take it all down. The most hated textwall user is known as CYOD (“Click yes or die”, click yes being from another fandom), also known as SHM and IHR, and is just one of the most annoying users on textwall, who will constantly start arguments and grief creations by people he doesn’t like, or just for no reason.

With all the griefing, I started backing up cool ASCII stuff from textwall. You can use ALT+C to select text to copy and paste into your own wall, and if it weren’t for me, lots of cool ASCII and history would be lost.

Alright, I call textwall “the biggest multiplayer notepad on the internet”, but that might not be true, I only say it cause it sounds cool. There’s another site kinda like textwall, except 10 years older, way more clunky and WAY more racist, known as Our World of Text. For a good while, users from OWOT would come into TextWall and randomly greif builds and harrass users for no reason, and spamming things like “textwall sucks go to owot”, even though nobody asked
